Provides administrative support for the Virginia Tech Roanoke Center by paying bills and reconciling budgets; answering phones; preparing packets of materials for continuing and professional education classes; sending and receiving mail and email; drafting, formatting, and editing correspondences; organizing data and reports; making arrangements for meetings and catering; maintaining office files; and greeting visitors, faculty, and students.
Previous administrative or program support experience in an academic or professional environment; working knowledge of Microsoft office products, databases, and Outlook email; possess the ability to work independently with limited supervision, a team player who exhibits good problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to safely, frequently, and independently move and handle up to 50 lbs.
Strong editing and proofreading skills; knowledge of college/university, state, or government procedures; experience with finance databases such as Banner or a related system; knowledge and/or experience working with community activities or event planning; experience working with budgets.
