Administrative Assistant

Wayne State University Physician Group, is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Administrative Assistant Position to provide administrative, analytical and or clerical support to the daily operations of the Department of Oncology in our Detroit Location.

An ideal candidate will provide secretarial support for management of the Oncology office by performing complex typing duties such as, editing correspondence, which may include technical or medical terminology. Assist in the preparation for presentation of slides, overhead administrative reports, statements and rosters. Perform routine data or information gathering, compute calculations and draft routine and or special reports and summaries for review, which require an understanding of departmental policies and procedures. Organize monitor and expedite the workflow of an assigned office. Initiate follow-up procedures regarding pending matters, route correspondence not requiring supervisor’s attention, identify and resolve day-to-day operational problems and respond to routine inquiries for data and information. Receive office visitors, answer telephones, screen calls, take messages and answer general inquiries concerning the activities and operation of the office and refers questions to the appropriate personnel. Keep calendar, schedule appointments and make arrangements for meetings and conferences.

Position requires High School Diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years of progressive clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a health care environment. Ability to type at least 55 wpm, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships and provide high-level consumer service. Outstanding organizational skills including strong planning skills with ability to prioritize and plan work actives.
