UMMC is seeking an Administrative Laboratory Director to manage, direct and supervise functions and activities for the UMMC laboratories. The Director will plan, organize and direct the department†s mission, vision and values and keep UMMC Executive Leadership, Medical Staff and Nursing informed of the department†s mission, performance, needs, challenges, regulations as well as other clinical, administrative and fiscal matters pertaining to assessment, fiscal analysis, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and safety. This position will ensure the provision of laboratory services meet the needs of patients and providers and are performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices as well as regulations stipulated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement ACT (CLIA), The Joint Commission, FDA, AABB, FAA and OSHA. In addition, the Director will develop performance standards; monitor and lead staff; and develop, recommend and manage the department†s operating budget.

Bachelor†s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; Master†s degree in Health Care Management, Business Management or Hospital Administration preferred. Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry degree may be considered
10 years of Laboratory Supervision of greater than 200 FTE†s
Experience managing total laboratory operations for hospital and hospital system laboratories
Experience managing in an environment that includes close collaboration and building strong long-term relationships with pathologists and other medical professionals
Extensive knowledge of hospital-based clinical and anatomical laboratory processes and operations
Proficient knowledge of CLIA †88 regulations, federal and state laws governing clinical laboratories and accrediting agencies
Demonstrated ability to manage financial budget data and perform financial report interpretation
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance company reimbursement protocols
Active in local and national laboratory organizations
