Responsibilities : Responsible for accounting, credit and administrative functions at location level. Responsible for location accounting and control functions including coordination of associates for month-end closings, order entry, receivables, payables, and inventory/payables reconciliation. Will coordinate with headquarters on collection issues. Responsible for HR tasks including payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, FMLA, EEO and AAP.
Manages the credit and collection function for a location: Researches customer financial history with appropriate agencies. Performs a variety of analyses regarding financial statements, credit history, etc. Analyzes aging and monitors collection history. Establishes and monitors appropriate credit lines, authorizes and approves limits, extensions or suspensions. Manages collection of delinquent accounts. Conducts an annual analysis of credit files and analyzing volume, credit reports, tax information, and determines a change in the credit line, if appropriate. Meets with sales staff to discuss opportunities to increase sales volume/credit line. May make recommendations to customers on improvements in the credit process.
Manages the general accounting cycles related to distribution, information services and payroll functions for a location:
Information Services: Manages the information systems for the operation (hardware and software), trains users, and troubleshoots hardware issues. Interact with division and corporate information services, as necessary.
- General Accounting: Supervises all accounting activities associated with the general ledger, receiving, invoicing, inventory control, accounts receivable and accounts payables. Interact and problems solve daily activities between sales, operations and accounting. Ensure compliance with all policies and processes are followed.
Inventory Control: In conjunction with the product managers, manages periodic inventories of all products physically located on site.
Payroll: Responsible for payroll administration (record keeping) at the location.
Manages all administrative functions for a location: Negotiates procurement contracts for equipment and supplies not handled by division or corporate departments. Responsible for employee relations administration, including the recruiting process, benefit questions, new-employee orientations, and new-hire and termination documentation. Prepares information for the affirmative action, and EEO plans. Coaches, counsels, manages performance, and provides leadership to the accounting/administrative staff members.
Handles special projects as assigned, such as: Coordinates sales and marketing promotional programs (catalog development by providing administrative and technical support), sales promotions or location "open house," etc. Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to the process of continuous improvement, identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers and be open and responsive to change.
Qualifications : Degree in business or accounting and minimum three years accounting/ financial background preferred. Supervisory experience, strong oral and written communication skills, positive interpersonal skills, and a basic knowledge of the building materials industry preferred. Proficient in utilizing PC software applications necessary for performing job responsibilities. Supervisory experience and computer knowledge essential.
