Ensure accurate payment of employees and the timely and accurate preparation of payrolls. Perform a full range of payroll processing activities to include calculation, preparation, processing and reconciliation. Process payroll categories classified and hourly. Validate leave balances for classified employees. Ensure employees participating in the Virginia Sickness & Disability Program are paid accurately during periods of short-term or working long-term disability.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices associated with payroll, leave and benefit accountability. Knowledge of payroll, leave and benefits accounting function and operations. Ability to work independently, but also function as a team member. Ability to analyze payroll transactions for conformance with policies and procedures. Strong mathematical skills. Customer service experience. Working knowledge of PC operations.
High School Graduate or G.E.D. Experience in automated payroll and leave accounting system. Previous experience in PC operation using spreadsheets and word processing. Experience with Kronos or other automated timekeeping system. Experience with Commonwealth Integrated Payroll Personnel System (CIPPS).
