NOTE: THIS POSITION IS FEDERALLY FUNDED THROUGH 6/30/13 AND IS CONTINGENT UPON RENEWAL.
This position will assist with field project management within the Emergency Programs (EP) Division to include: reviewing, editing, and writing training documents, plans, and reports. Collecting and reviewing task trackers and vehicle travel logs. Compiling information from the task trackers into the quarterly Public Health report. Develop the EP planning document, which will be used to project resources and to plan trainings, exercises and projects for the upcoming year. Compile and edit the accomplishment report. Provide back-up phone responsibilities to the receptionist. Enter and track orders in the E-Procurement system. Provide administrative and logistical support to the Flu at the Zoo Grant. Provide administrative support in exercise logistics and planning, and assist in the organization of the NC One Medicine Symposium. Complete other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor. Position may be required to occasionally work after-hours during activations, trainings, or other related meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
An ideal candidate will have familiarity with event planning, emergency response principles, and the incident command system (ICS). Candidate should have strong writing skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products is recommended, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher. Candidates selected for an interview will need to bring a writing sample to the interview.
Preference for work experience in the fields of Public Health, Veterinary Medicine or Emergency Management. Technical writing experience preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum requirements include graduation from a four year college/university and one year of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
