This position is in the BEST Shared Services Payroll/Time area.
BEST Shared Services provides transactional and processing support
for the State’s HR and payroll system. This position is responsible
for monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing and review for over
100,000 State employees. The Administrative Officer I is required
to have in-depth knowledge of payroll processing, payroll
a nalysis/auditing and reporting in an SAP environment. This position
i s responsible for resolving payroll errors, warnings and analyzing
payroll results.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Candidate must have experience with all aspects of payroll processing
and compliance. Must have the ability to analyze and audit
detailed payroll and HR data in order to identify issues. Should
be able to perform root cause analysis of payroll issues and work
with employees and administrators to resolve issues in a timely
manner. Must have experience in wage and tax computation, payroll
reporting and reconciliation principles. The position will provide
assistance to employees and Agencies while maintaining a high level
of confidentiality and professionalism. Must comply with
statutory regulations and adhere to standardized processes with
commitment to data integrity and accuracy. Ability to use common
spreadsheet and database software packages. Strong attention to detail
is required. Experience in SAP Payroll is preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from a four-year college/university and one year of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, administrative management; o r supplemented by basic courses in accounting and two years of progressively responsible experience in payroll, tax or bookkeeping; or a two-year degree, including or supplemented by basic courses in accounting and four years of progressively responsible experience in payroll, tax or bookkeeping; or graduation from high school, including or supplemented by basic courses in accounting and six years of progressively responsible experience in payroll, tax or bookkeeping; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited
institutions.
