Special Information

  • This position is 30-hours a week, 9 am - 3 pm daily, and benefit eligible.

Job Description

  • Answers main phone line and greets visitors, provides general information in response to inquiries, refers highly technical inquiries to appropriate work unit member.
  • Assembles and or/compiles a variety of data from department records for incorporation into reports; extracts and provides factual information using a variety of identifiable sources.
  • Reviews reports, records or other documents for completeness, accuracy and conformity within established procedures; collects data to maintain such records.
  • Processes and logs incoming and outgoing mail according office guidelines.
  • Maintains office supply inventory.
  • Maintains filing system to include filing and cross-indexing documents and correspondence.
  • Operates copiers, calculators, computers, fax machines, and other basic office equipment.
  • May coordinate the work of student workers and may assist in training new employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of secretarial/clerical experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Skill in basic arithmetic, grammar and spelling.
  • Skill in general record keeping.
  • Skill in the operation of a variety of office machines including personal computers, telephones and copiers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • The ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds

General Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Salary

$15,837 - $17,500

FLSA Status

Non-Exempt.
