Relocation expenses are not authorized. DUTIES:
As an Administrative Support Specialist you will provide expertise with regard to facilities management and general services. Along with the Administrative Officer, oversees the operation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant, and contractor performance. Other duties include:

  • Advises the Administrative Officer and Agency managers on various administrative policies, procedures and requirements to ensure compliance with Federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Responsible for the Agency's facilities management, overseeing the operation, maintenance, cleaning and repair of the physical plant, monitoring contractor performance and scheduling work to be done.
  • Negotiates agreements and logistical arrangements related to space, moves, improvements and renovations of the office, overseeing the procurement of furniture, utilities and equipment.
  • Serves as Agency's Security Officer, managing physical and personnel issues in coordination with the Diplomatic Security Service of the Department of State.
  • Manages the Agency's Internship Program, and conducts orientations for new employees.
  • Serves as the point of contact on a variety of administrative programs, including employee training, Telework, health, safety and wellness, Federal benefits programs, and records maintenance.
  • Creates data tables, reports and presentations using the DATAMARK database in response to external and internal reporting requirements. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GS-11 Qualifications:
Applicants for the GS-11 grade level must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to that least the GS-9 level. Specialized experience is experience for this position includes but is not limited to: overseeing, coordinating and evaluating the efforts of a wide range of administrative issues involving facilities management, security, space management, procurement, inventory control, travel and human resources.

OR

A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related. Such education must demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Typically, qualifying fields of study include Business Management or Human Resources.

To qualify based on education, submit a copy of your transcript or list of courses with credit hours, majors, and grade point average class ranking. Applicant materials will not be returned. You can receive credit for education received outside the United States if you provide evidence that it is comparable to an accredited educational institution in the United States when you apply.

GS-12 Qualifications:
Applicants for the GS-12grade level must possess one year of specialized equivalent to that least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience for this position includes but is not limited to: Responsible for facilities management, i.e. the operation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant, overseeing contractor performance, scheduling and modifying space arrangements and layouts, developing preventative maintenance and repair schedules, and negotiating agreements and logistical arrangements related to space, moves, improvements and renovations is illustrative of specialized experience, as well as experience providing guidance and advice on Federal Employee Benefits programs and other HR initiatives that fall into the Work-Life category. Negotiating and overseeing contracts for administrative services, such as for office cleaning and telephone, is also specialized experience.

Conditions of Employment:
