Responsible for providing legal services to Vidant Health.
Responsibilities
1. Provides Legal Advice and oversight to all Corporate Entities and affiliate.
Provides legal advice and oversight to all corporate entities (corporate law, regulatory issues, etc)
Communicates with corporate executive leadership regarding legalities of corporate initiatives, document drafting as appropriate, including identification of feasible alternatives.
Represents corporate Legal Affairs and provides legal advice and services at corporate committee and task force meetings.
Collaborates with and provides legal advice to corporate executive and physician leadership on medical staff legal issues (corrective actions, credentialing, physician behavioral issues, peer review, quality data, sentinel and critical events, medical staff bylaws, etc) and serves as legal representative on selected medical staff committees.
Provides legal advice to the corporate Regulatory Rapid Response Team by assisting and supporting operational areas during the survey and providing legal advice and guidance on responses to the survey.
Supports the corporate Human Resources service by providing legal advice on all employment matters (ADA, FMLA, personnel issues, EEOC matters, etc).
Provide legal services for 24/7 "One Call Does It All" for the system.
Provides legal due diligence on corporate initiatives.
Provides legal advice and services for all corporate services not mentioned above including but not limited to Marketing, Design and Construction, Information Systems, Real Property and Pharmacy.
2. Coordinates and oversees the corporate contract process to ensure regulatory compliance,minimize risk and serve as a business tool for operations.
Oversees and provides direction to all contract attorneys and the contract administrator.
Works with corporate executive leadership and entities to ensure policy compliance and to modify process as necessary.
3. Provides legal education for all corporate entities.
Evaluates the need for legal education at corporate entities.
Provides legal education to all corporate. Entities on legal issues affecting the health system (eg: employment law, construction law, billing and reimbursement, EMTALA, STARK, Fraud and Abuse, etc).
Updates corporate entities on relevant legislative changes and impact of the changes on operations.
4. Provides management to departmental activities in achieving goals of the strategic framework. Participates In Development Of Goals And Objectives. Participates In Budget Process. Oversees And Supervises Daily Legal Operations.
5. Participates in oversight or coordination with litigation.
Oversees internal investigations (eg: risk, compliance, HR) likely to result in litigation.
Provides appropriate legal services as to non-medmal cases such as EEO, class action, ESC and construction. Management of corporate subpoenas.
Minimum Position Requirements
PhD - Juris Doctorate
Law license required
Five years or more experience
