Statement of the Job

Establishing and maintaining open and effective communication with referring publics, consumers and peers. This individual must be able to communicate effectively with treatment team. The Admissions Assistant with be responsible for maintaining the waitlist, completing admission documents, tours, verifying insurance/payment sources and keeping accurate records and other duties as assigned to assure a smooth transition for new admissions.

Duties of the Job

Manage the waiting list for applicants on a daily/quarterly basis, sending letters, follow up with phone calls, questions and tours of wait list applicants.

Financially evaluate prospective residents through insurance verification, pre-authorization and case management coordination prior to admission. Confer with Director of Admissions as needed.

Communicating with appropriate staff to make sure rooms are cleaned and ready for new residents.

Complete all paperwork necessary within admission packet with Residents and/or Responsible Parties.

Maintain all incoming calls, faxes and referral database to ensure a timely response.

Update Admission database to assure accurate records are being kept.

Follow up with discharge facilities to retrieve any additional medical information that may be needed once residents have been admitted (discharge summary, labs etc.).

Maintaining communication with billing staff and social services on resident bed holds and financial issues when re admitting MKV residents

Other duties assigned by Admissions Director.

Job Qualifications

Experience in Long Term Care as an Admissions Assistant preferred
High School Diploma/GED
Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate well with clients.
Excellent Organizational Skills.
Ability to work and multi-task under stressful conditions.
Knowledge of Medicare and Commercial Insurance.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
