The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for the position of Admissions Counselor in the Office of Admissions. This is a full-time exempt staff position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, connecting with prospective students by positively representing the University of Indianapolis at high school visits and college fairs and during campus visits. During those connections, the counselor is responsible for providing information to a diverse population of prospective students and families regarding educational opportunities at UIndy. Additionally, the counselor educates prospective students on the admissions, financial aid, and enrollment process as well as the institution’s admissions policy and procedures. The counselor also interprets the general nature of the institution and the specific content of its education programs. Finally, the counselor supports recruitment functions within the Office of Admissions as assigned.

Special Instructions to Applicants

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
Primary consideration will be given to candidates with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and with customer service/recruitment-focused work experience, preferably in higher education. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and possess a positive, empathetic attitude, with a desire to provide effective admissions counseling to diverse students and families interested in the University of Indianapolis. This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift and transport recruitment materials in excess of 30 pounds, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including regular evening and some weekend work as part of recruitment travel and campus visit events. The successful candidate must be a flexible team player, be highly organized, and be able to manage responsibilities in a timely manner in an environment of significant change and high volume. Preference will be given to candidates with event planning experience.
