Within the framework of the agency's mission, policies, procedures and resources, the Adoption Resource Consultant is responsible for working within a team towards the goal of developing permanent life-long connections for children in the foster care system, who have a permanency goal of adoption and have been legally free for adoption for one year or longer without an identified adoptive resource. All services will be performed in compliance with current State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Placing Agencies, contractual, or grant obligations, and any additional applicable accreditation standards relevant to the agency.
A master's degree in social work or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in the adoption process and recruitment of adoptive parents is preferred.
Ability to effectively facilitate difficult conversations in which participants have strongly different opinions or perspectives.
Knowledge about the Michigan foster care system, the adoption process, the child welfare system and DHS adoption processes.
