The Montgomery College Adult ESOL & Literacy - GED Program is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching adult learners in need of English language, literacy, numeracy, and GED skills development using the Maryland Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training(MI-BEST) model. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism,a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs.
The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment.
The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Managements sole discretion.
Adult ESOL & Literacy Part-time Faculty - Rockville
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach ESL & Basic Skills to adults in collaboration with a content area co-teacher.
Collaborate with a content area co-teacher in the writing of integrated learner outcomes, lesson plans, and assessments.
Meet regularly with content area instructor and transition services coordinator to plan lessons, assess the effectiveness of instruction, provide feedback on learner progress, and contribute to transitions services planning.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in TESOL or related field.
2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
ability to write comprehensive lesson plans and integrated, measureable learner outcomes; communicate effectively in English.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor
Preferred Qualifications :
Prior experience working with non-traditional, low income, first generation and international adult students in a college/vocational environment is desirable.
Experience working in a community college setting preferred. Experience with co-teaching preferred.
As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire:
Completion of a background check.
Submission of an official transcript of an earned degree;
Submission of three letters of professional reference
