This team consults with business units across Chevron to apply repeatable modeling and analytics solutions to improve business decision making. The team develops, deploys, and supports models built with a wide variety of technologies including, statistics, data mining, neural networks, genetic algorithms, optimization, big data analysis and others.
The charter and vision of the team is to excel in developing solutions which would utilize the massive amount of data that is generated in the enterprise to gain better decision insights. Some specific examples are in our Value Chain Optimization organization and the Drilling & Completions function, where high frequency data needs to be leveraged to predict events and equipment failures .

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Creates a vision and direction for the predictive analytics space for Chevron. Breaks down vision into actionable, results oriented pieces. Works with other thought leaders in modeling and analytics at Chevron to make sure visions are consistent and integrated.
Plans, coordinates, and implements this vision. Manages highly complex projects involving multiple analytics technologies across all Chevron organizations.
Provides technical mentoring in modeling and analytics technologies, the specifics of the modeling process, and general consulting skills.
Work directly with customers to educate them on “moving beyond Business Intelligence” and showcases a passion for generating insights from data
Manages the performance of small work group: holds PMP planning and review sessions; sets clear expectations; provides feedback using input from customers, management, team leads, and technologists; and supports Learning Action Plans. Develops people: provides opportunities for training and development, delegates effectively, rewards educated risk taking, coaches employees, and reinforces role model behaviors.
Proven experience in developing and deploying predictive and advanced analytics technologies and processes
Results oriented, able to deal with ambiguity, curiosity, able to learn Chevron’s engineering disciplines (e.g. supply chain, drilling, production or reservoir engineering), strong strategic thinker and thought leader, good communication and documentation skills, great critical thinking.
Strong people leadership skills required
Advanced degree in an analytical or technical field (preferably in Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management or related).
Experience with predictive analytics tools (SPSS, Rapid Analytics etc), statistical languages and packages. Must have a strong technical background in programming and experience working hands-on with large-scale data sets.
Prior team lead experience preferred
Ability to lead complex technical deliverables required
Proven experience in advanced analytics (focused predictive analytics.)
