The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be a member of the Greenville Plant’s new product introduction organization and acts as a liaison among manufacturing, sourcing, engineering and suppliers. As an advanced manufacturing engineer (AME) you will develop the next generation, leading edge products for GE Power & Water customers.
In addition, you will:
Work in a highly cross-functional environment with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, product management and suppliers to influence and introduce design configurations with extraordinary quality, that are highly manufacturable and cost effective for our customers
Develop a plan to quality internal manufacturing operations or external suppliers to perform special processes or super alloys (Certifying Agent)
Utilize New Product Introduction tollgate process, as well as be responsible for producibility / process capability, manufacturing process development, tool design, integrated schedules, design to cost, Sourcing technical support, Quality qualifications, test support, product cost out, P&E and introduction into the supply chain
Support Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing initiatives
Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes such as large machining, turnkey machine installation, investment & sand castings, EDM / laser / ECM process development, turbine & generator assembly, super alloy coatings and welding, composite & insulating materials, inspection and testing, metal joining (advanced welding & brazing), tool & fixture design, and hot gas & steam path component manufacturing
Own or support manufacturing engineering projects requiring development of specifications, supplier management, purchase, installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or materials engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering and/or supply chain experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a project leadership position within an engineering, manufacturing or supply chain function
Minimum of 5 years’ experience reading and understanding technical specifications, blueprints and bills of material
Minimum of 2 years quality experience or certification (for non-GE employees, minimum Green Belt for GE employees only)
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time domestically and internationally, as required
Ability and willingness to maneuver, stand, and work on the shop floor of a large manufacturing facility for up to 4 hours at a time
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Export control clearance
Experience in the manufacture of industrial gas turbine or aircraft engine hot gas path components
Experience in superalloy post investment case processes such as brazing, thermal barrier and oxidation coatings, electron beam, grinding, machining, laser and tig joining or heat treatment
Master’s Degree in mechanical or materials engineering or related discipline
Demonstrated self-starter and independent thinker who works effectively with cross-functional teams such as design engineering, sourcing, manufacturing and suppliers
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong communication skills, interpersonal, and oral & written
Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
High attention to detail and accuracy
Integrity - accept and adhere to high ethical, moral and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
