Increase life insurance, annuity and mutual fund product sales by advising the agency force and consulting with clients and their professional advisors targeting Advanced Markets - farm/ranch owners, family business owners, and high net worth individuals - requiring estate planning, business succession, charitable giving and retirement strategies. Research estate, business, retirement and sophisticated wealth transfer options for attorneys and tax advisors of FB clients; provide sample legal documents. Increase the effectiveness of FBL agents by supporting the advanced sales of life products. Provide agents and client’s professional advisors with Catalyst (estate tax analysis), Business Succession (Buy-Sell), and Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) reports; design sales oriented and user-friendly reports appropriate to the financial situation of individual clients. Enhance the reputation and sales effectiveness of FBL and its agents by preparing and conducting client seminars, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) workshops for attorneys and CPA’s. Conduct individual sales interviews with agents, clients and their professional advisors. Research and assist in the development of sales concepts and printed materials for education, training and marketing. Research and assist with the development of comprehensive Buy-Sell training schools for top agents covering all aspects of prospecting, presenting case studies, and closing techniques for business succession cases; include Catalyst and CRT programs. Research estate, business, retirement and sophisticated wealth transfer strategies. Assist with providing legal documents to FBL clients’ attorneys and tax advisors. Provide estate planning documents, such as Wills, Trusts, ILITS, Buy-Sell Agreements, CRT agreements, Powers of Attorney and transfer documents (e.g. deeds, beneficiary designations). Inform and update FBL agents and home office personnel concerning federal legislation, IRS code and tax court rulings affecting Advanced Markets; take action to adjust and initiate Advanced Market programs which conform to the changes. Research and assist in the creation and development of articles pertinent to tax law and IRS changes to be published on HomeField to keep agents abreast of changes on a monthly basis. Investigate and screen for compliance the innovative marketing and product strategies produced by outside Advanced Market vendors; protect FBL from unreasonable business risk – monitor FBL agent marketing practices. Participate in the development of materials and instructions for the education and training of Life and Investment Specialists (LIS), Regional Financial Advisors (RFA) and Regional Life Sales Advisors (LSA). Assist with the development of life and annuity products to fulfill advanced market sales. Teach estate planning, business succession and CRT courses.

Law School Degree (Juris Doctorate) and admission to the state of Iowa bar required (insurance law background preferred). Current Life and Health Insurance License required within one year. Must have or attain CLU, ChFC or CFP within three years. NASD 6, 63 and 26 required within twelve months. Advanced knowledge of estate, business and charitable tax law; integrate retirement and financial strategies with insurance products and industry programs. Must keep abreast of changing life and annuity product trends in Advanced Markets and state and federal insurance/governmental regulations (FASB, GAAP, SAP, NYSE, SOA) affecting the financial services industry to ensure compliance. Excellent human relations skills with the ability to convert complex, technical knowledge into effective sales solutions solving client’s financial needs. Strong analytical, problem solving, presentation, and facilitation skills required. Proficient use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes, CCH Viewplan, BRT Kettley, Leimberg NumberCruncher, and Virtual Sales Assistant. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record required; willing to travel extensively. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
