Job Description

Job Title: Agricultural Buyer

Reports To: Vice President of Purchasing

Job Location: Corporate Office in Mattoon, IL

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Drive the selection and development of new agricultural products and oversee the analysis of current trends and market factors to forecast the success of new merchandise items and departments

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Analyze trends by identifying key factors affecting the performance of assigned category

· Deliver merchandise to the sales floor in a timely manner

· Locate merchandise strategically in coordination with the management team

· Analyze inventory level and react to change in demand

· Negotiate product costs and contract terms with suppliers to achieve sales and margin goals

· Establish and maintain strategic relationships with all internal and external stakeholders

· Work Collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed successfully

· Create analytic reporting to review forecasts, performance indicators and monitor stock levels

· Develop advertising plans and promotions with suppliers to drive sales and margin

· Partner with advertising to maximize impact of promotions and ensure maximum co-op dollars are generated

· Ensure quality control of merchandise as product enters the store

· Execute company action plans to increase sales and profits and reduce shrink

· Execute strategies and plans to effectively deliver merchandise to the sales floor, action planning, effective communication and consistent accountability

· Commitment to company established receiving practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· 5-10 years experience with Chemicals/Agronomy

· 4+ years experience in Agriculture merchandising as a Buyer in a specialty national or large regional multi-unit chain store

· Experience should include some of the following expertise and skill sets:

o Merchandise Management

o Inventory management

o Product lifecycle and seasonal trends

o New line product development

o Vendor negotiations

o Excel in a fast paced, evolving work environment

o Strong computer skills

o Effective communication skills

o Effective problem-solving skills

o Critical thinking skills to solve problems

· None.

· Standing for long periods of time

· Repetitive lifting, pushing, & pulling

· Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard

· Repetitive hand movements on telexon

· Close vision for PC work
