Communication Oral/Written Skills: Communicates well with growers and accommodates their individual needs. Communicates effectively in writing as well as conversation and oral presentation Provide precise and timely advice to growers and reports to upper management Writes reports of findings and recommendations to growers and presents information clearly and concisely. Listening: Executes good listening skills Appeals to and empathizes with the individual needs of growers Asks questions and clarifies problems Maintaining Relationships: Works with and interacts compatibly with growers and engages in face-to-face client contact. Advises growers in matters of production, operations and farming practices Communicates new product opportunities such as sugar beet chemicals, seed varieties and results of work from the previous year. Relationships Building Establishes a high degree of trust and credibility Encourages and initiates clear two-way communication Ensures trust with the growers and builds rapport quickly Conveys a level of confidence and feels comfortable with the advice he provides to growers. Maintain Rapport: Interacts compatibly with growers and colleges Handles ambiguous and sometimes tense interaction with growers in a tactful manner. Persuasion: Persuades growers in their farming practices and techniques Effectively convinces people to make necessary changes to their operations in order to increase production. Assures landowners of their importance in the production and encourages them to get involved in the growing process. Wins concessions while maintaining a good relationship. Negotiation: Negotiates co-operations with growers to ensure quality production. Managing People: Assigns employees to various work stations and motivates people within individual and team settings. Applies knowledge of resource allocation and coordination of people and resources. Farming Knowledge and Agricultural Aptitude Knowledge of Production and Harvest: Knowledge of harvesting sugar beets and the production process from start to finish (operations, beet crop purchase, storage and trucking operations). Applies knowledge of sugar beet production and agronomic practices Knowledge of farm equipment and successful techniques for planting and growing, such as adjusting planters for proper seed placement and spacing During field inspection identifies potentially damaging weeds, insects and diseases Knows general farming practices associated with the production of sugar beets Knowledge of Current Trends: Knowledge of information on competitive activity and new products Applies knowledge of short and long range business forecasts The Western Sugar Cooperative is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
