Day shift, specific days to be determined by supervisor.
This position is located in the Senate Office Buildings, Air Conditioning Division. The incumbent performs the duties of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader and receives instructions from the General Supervisor, Supervisor, or Assistant Supervisor. The incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership for completion of preventative maintenance programs and provide essential work site control of numerous projects assigned to the division.
Performs work installing and maintaining a variety of air conditioning and cooling unit systems. The work includes installation, recognizing faulty equipment, and making repairs. Maintains a variety of commercial and industrial systems, variety of commercial and industrial systems in order to locate and check elements such as those which control low side and high side pressure, the temperature of the cooling units, the temperatures of the liquid and suction lines, and the running time of the various mechanisms. Checks for the probability of leaks by visual and audible examination of equipment components, by applying prescribed test procedures and equipment, and by exploration of probable reasons for equipment failure. Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles units such as pumps, impellers, compressors, chillers, receivers, and evaporators. Installs and fits connecting rods, crank shafts, piston rings, bearings, and bushing; overhauling valves by adjusting or replacing gaskets, springs, floats, diaphragms, valve fittings, seals, and couplings, and by aligning motors and flywheel drives.
Performs Inventory Management by maintaining the inventory system(Maximo) and accountability for parts and materials. Requisitions and receives supplies, equipment, materials and tools necessary for completion of assigned projects and sees that they are properly used, stored and cared for.

Traces and locates electrical and mechanical problems in air conditioning systems.

Articulates and communicates to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and/or occupational specialization. Makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensures each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product. Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met. Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation, and communication of work-related information to the supervisor. Estimates and reports to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects, and tasks. Ensures all team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of team goals and objectives.
Coordinates and dispatches the movement of the Air Conditioning and Plumbing Division workforce from a central location. Completes and closes planned and demand work orders for plumbing and air conditioning Divisions. Completes and closes planned and demand work orders for plumbing and Air Conditioning Divisions. Completes purchases' request and maintains inventory requirements.
Performs limited human resource management functions such as resolving work-related problems and referring informal and formal grievances and appeals to the supervisor or an appropriate management official; informing the supervisor of performance management issues/problems and recommending/requesting related actions, such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, tour of duty changes, peer reviews, performance appraisals, awards, and recognition.
Serves as a team/work leader, leading team efforts in the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of program or project responsibilities. Facilitates team or unit processes by working with team members or employees to ensure that tasks are completed, that good working relationships among team members and with management officials are maintained, and that team priorities and goals, needs, and achievements are coordinated with management.
