MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
The primary purpose of this position is to inspect a variety of aircraft engine modules, components, parts, materials, and processes by applying inspection techniques and analytical processes of repairs accomplished on overhaul of engines and/or engine repairables in a lean cell environment.

Passes on to other workers the instructions received from the supervisor, gets work initiated, and is responsible for setting the pace for the cell members.

Performs detailed work scope inspections, test and repair on a variety of aircraft engine parts, components, materials, and processes in a multi-skilled production lean cell.

Participates with responsible supervisors and schedules to plan and schedule workload based on production requirements.

Ensures education is in compliance with, practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (

WG-11

) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include inspecting a variety of aircraft engine modules, components, parts, materials, and processes by applying inspection techniques and analytical processes of repairs accomplished on overhaul of engines and/or engine repairables in a lean cell environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) directing work.

Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures (including sexual harassment and EEO/EOT).

Knowledge of safety directives, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment common to trades supervised.

Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.

Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

Ability to implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Other Significant Factors:
Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.

May be required to work other work shifts.

Employee may be required to maintain special Detail Inspector's training and certifications.

May be required to obtain an appropriate clearance to perform the work in sensitive areas.

Shift work may be required to work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty. Subject to call back to meet emergency situations.

Physical Demands:
Standing, stooping; bending, reaching above head, and frequently handling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Hoist, hand trucks, lifting slings, and other employees are available to assist with heavier items. Both hands and legs are required, dexterous use of fingers, and close visual application is required. Standing for long periods of time may be required. Walking on uneven and slippery floors is possible. Must be able to distinguish shades of color. This position performs working leader, and journeyman Aircraft Engine mechanical work inspector duties. The highest level work performed by this position is work leader.

Working Condition:
Working condition range from those encounters in an industrial machine work shop environment as well as those encounted in a nondestructive inspection clean room work environment. Work is accomplished in a production lean cell. Employee maybe exposed to noise, danger to eyes, and skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, abrasive compounds, danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces. At times subject to noise of 85 decibels or above. There may be discomfort when wearing protective clothing, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, face shields, and other equipment as required.
