SUMMARY:

Assemble, disassemble, evaluate, reassemble, and test repair station aircraft components. Assemble pneumatic and hydraulic valves partially or completely, and conduct a variety of tests on systems, subassemblies and parts to ensure unit functions according to acceptance procedures or to determine cause of unit failure by performing the following duties. Specific duties are performed under controlled environmental conditions on company premises.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow assembly documents, production drawings and CMM manuals or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Read blueprints, work orders, Engineering instructions, maintenance manuals, performance specifications, or schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
  • Assemble and test various valves & components with very limited supervision using gauging, measuring devices, special tooling as required.
  • Determine what equipment is required to perform the task and make own set-up.
  • Troubleshoot, fix or repair test stands if necessary. Analyze production rejections, suggest problem solving solutions.
  • Meet scheduling deadlines by taking the initiative and using correct procedures with minimum supervision.
  • Responsible for the documentation of processes and test results.
  • Interact with management, engineers, technicians, production personnel, quality control personnel, regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of and vocational instruction in mechanical and electrical component

assembly. Ability to follow written instruction and diagrams for mechanical, electrical and

electronic component assembly and test. Previous experience with document process and

test results. Must be able to setup and operate tools required for assembly including,

but not limited to standard hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and feeler

gauges, vise, Arbor Press, Instron device, Micrometers, Depth mics, Calipers and

microscope. Must be able to setup and operate equipment required for testing

including, but not limited to multimeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, pressure, gauges

and transducers, data recorders, load cells, flowmeters (examples: rotometers,

turbines, mass flow), temperature trendicators (thermo coupling). Possess excellent

reading, writing and math skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance, military or manufacturing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read , write, speak and understand English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Annual Eye Exams, FAA Repairman Certification

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work is performed in a typical production plant, shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper safety training and equipment is provided to the employee for the safe performance of required duties.
