Performs a variety of tasks to maintain the airport, passenger terminal building, and various types of equipment to ensure efficient, safe, sanitary and neat conditions.
Performs daily airfield inspections, reports outages and makes repairs as needed.
Maintains and polices airfield grounds, street and aircraft movement areas to comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety regulations.
Responsible for opening and closing the terminal building. Makes security checks of fences and gates.
Maintains airfield and terminal grounds by using tractor mowers, self-propelled mowers, weed-eaters, edgers, blowers, and runway sweeper. If qualified, applies herbicides and pesticides as necessary.
Performs minor semi-skilled interior/exterior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor covering, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.
Performs construction and maintenance projects including concrete work, horticulture, earthwork, and pavement maintenance.
Performs a full range of custodial duties in the terminal building such as cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, cleaning windows and woodwork, emptying trash; changing light bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, and ballasts; vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and other custodial duties as required.
Performs weather observation duties in accordance with National Weather Service guidelines and federal regulations.
Uses UNICOM, VHF, and administrative radio systems. Publishes Notices to Airmen (NOTAM’s) and has authority to close the airport, if needed.
Responsible for preventative maintenance of all maintenance equipment and makes repairs as needed.
Reacts to aviation related emergencies and, if applicable, initiates the Airport Emergency Plan.
Operates a hydroelectric mobile lift system capable of assisting disabled passengers into or out of aircraft and performing vertical work platform tasks.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and
Six (6) months of maintenance/custodial experience is preferred.
Employee must have valid Texas driver’s license by date of hire. Class 3 FCC radio license is preferred.
Must obtain weather certification from the National Weather Service within six (6) months of employment.
Must obtain an Herbicide Applicator’s License within one (1) year of employment or notification of requirement.
May be required to work rotating shifts.
Employee may be required to pass an access security clearance check before unrestricted access to airport secure areas can be approved.
