A national non-profit founded in 1993, College Summit equips principals, teachers, and counselors with tools, including a postsecondary planning curriculum that helps students connect the dots between their future goals and the academic choices they make, starting in 9th grade. The Alumni & Volunteer Engagement Manager has two primary responsibilities: building the ranks of College Summit's alumni and volunteers, and creating opportunities to keep these communities engaged year-round and through the years.

The initial focus will be strengthening College Summit's connections to the tens of thousands of alumni who have been a part of our program, and creating offerings that can serve College Summit alumni as they persist through college, and into careers and further education. He or she will work with College Summit's regional offices to identify and share best practices for engaging alumni, and to coordinate local networking events and other opportunities to reconnect.

A longer-term focus will be to develop the volunteer engagement program, working closely with colleagues on the national development team and in regional offices to conceive of and coordinate year-round volunteer opportunities that provide significant value to College Summit's partner schools. This position will also work closely with the Program Operations team to connect corporate volunteers with College Summit's signature summer workshops, where our peer leaders receive much of their training.


Alumni Engagement

Strengthen College Summit's connections with its network of alumni by building a series of offerings that help alumni succeed in and after college, and solidify their connection to the organization.

Work closely with regional offices and national development team to identify and secure sponsors for alumni offerings.

Volunteer Engagement

Develop plans around the engagement of diverse communities that are underrepresented in our current talent pool.

Retain volunteers from one year to the next, by establishing and implementing an engagement strategy that keeps them connected to College Summit and active in the process of recruiting other volunteers.

Corporate Partnerships

Work with national development and regional staff to identify and develop program activities where corporate volunteers can meaningfully support program outcomes during the school year.

Collaborate with national and regional colleagues to connect corporate partners with volunteer opportunities with College Summit at summer workshops and beyond.

Marketing and Communications

Develop content for national marketing materials and messaging for volunteers.

Spearhead the department's digital media communication efforts.

Regional Coordination

Visit regional offices and conduct regular conference calls to establish rapport, and assist in volunteer and alumni engagement and communication.

Work with regional staff to create a base of partners who can raise College Summit's profile as an exciting volunteer opportunity in their community, and facilitate sharing of these partners across regions.


Undergraduate degree required.

At least 3-5 years of experience in volunteer or alumni engagement or recruitment.

Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated success keeping complex projects on track and on time, and in managing others to meet those commitments.

Marketing experience highly desirable.

Ability to build complex and scalable systems and partnerships.

Strong relationship management skills.

Work experience with social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and ability to interface with different web-based systems.

Excellent professional writing and editing skills with the ability to quickly write, review, analyze, and communicate information.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external audiences.

Ability to work collaboratively in a faced-paced, deadline-driven, innovative and entrepreneurial work environment.

Strong and demonstrated connection to College Summit's mission, and the ability to articulate that passion to others.
