ABOUT STRATEGY & MARKET/CONSUMER RESEARCH:
Westfield's Strategy & Market/Consumer Research (S&MR) group is responsible for the national management, reporting and analysis of center performance metrics (i.e. sales & traffic), and in-depth market and consumer research for the US Westfield portfolio and any related capital projects including redevelopments, potential acquisitions/dispositions and new strategic business development. S&MR determines the viability of all potential capital projects and acquisitions or dispositions by analyzing US and regional macro-and micro-economics, the center's local market including business, tourism, housing, demographics, competition, tenant mix, consumer characteristics, shopper stats and sales and traffic performance. The group also forecasts sales and market shares for future redevelopments and provides guidance on the optimal GLA sizing and merchandising of new projects.
The Analyst, Strategy & Market Research will primarily provide sales and traffic reporting and strategic analysis for managerial and executive-level decision making. This person will support the S&MR team by providing accurate, timely data and insights that enable strategic decision making. He/she will interact frequently with Center Management and IT to ensure the accuracy of data through detailed oversight and implementation of process improvements, and with Finance on cross-functional reporting initiatives.
Center Performance -
Perform all tenant/sales data management functions including:
Ø Generate sales and traffic analyses that enable better decision-making for asset plan process and overall corporate strategy.
Ø Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis for senior management and Australia.
Ø Demonstrate innovative leveraging of rich tenant sales database to derive meaningful insights, including analysis of trends and their potential impact on Westfield, etc.
Ø QC monthly sales reports for accuracy and work closely with IT and Center Management to ensure data integrity.
Ø Maintain an ongoing knowledge of center performance (sales & traffic); act as a reference for quick questions - understand reasonable data in order to identify anomalies.
Ø Maintain on-going knowledge of retail industry and overall U.S. economy; issue frequent reports on trends, forecasts, retailer expansion/contraction plans, etc.
Ø Act as resource within S&MR for understanding and using TM1 and Alchemy; train new hires on the team as part of on-boarding.
Business / Corporate Analytics
Ø Create, streamline, and/or update reporting of key business metrics, including Center Fact Books and Monthly Performance Snapshot.
- Provide analytical support for key strategic tools:
Ø Perform post-audits of completed redevelopments. Track projected vs. actual performance, and apply trends and findings to potential future redevelopments. Partner with S&MR research team to marry consumer insights with sales data.
Ø Provide thoughtful input into and analysis of potential improvements in information reporting and distribution, including an understanding of how such reports can better support decision-making processes within other areas of Westfield.
Ø 1-2 years experience in sales reporting, finance, or analytics.
Ø Retail industry background preferred.
Ø Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and organized.
Ø Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints.
Ø Database knowledge and general data management skills required.
Ø Ability to take initiative to solve data reporting issues with little direction.
Ø Proactive and responsive.
Ø Team-oriented, can-do attitude
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ø Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required. Microsoft Access a plus.
Ø Knowledge of JD Edwards, Alchemy, Crystal Reports, TM1 helpful.
Ø Must have a college degree.
