To set up, implement and support end user computing environments, focusing on hardware, networking, enterprise applications and managed desktop initiatives.This position is within the Division of IT in Customer Support Services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 3 years of relevant experience. Degree requirements may be substituted for a combination of education, training and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Excellent customer services skills. Experience in Emergency Management Systems is desired. Experience providing in-person Windows and Mac support, as well as mobile device support (including RIM , IOS , and Android based devices) is preferred. Familiarity with communication systems, to include voice, networking, digital signage and emergency alert systems, is desirable as well.

Job Duties

Provides technical support for users in managed and unmanaged desktop environments to include but not limited to, installing and maintaining networking software and related end-user tools.

Assists in designing and managing the GW user support technical infrastructure including servers, networks and security applications.

Assists in planning and organizing training for users relative to new technologies; regularly interacts with other technical support staff to review major issues and problems that arise.

Participates in coordinating all application interfaces and related technical matters with the computer operations staff.

Assists in planning and organizing special projects and events that support users, supports computers in user locations, performs hardware/software support in administrative locations and other related activities.

Establishes and maintains positive work relations with support personnel in user departments, to include providing training for second-line support personnel within the department, with other technical support areas, and in user locations.

Assists in evaluating and recommending new technologies that will better support user needs.

Assists in creating and distributing user manuals, staff training materials and GW-specific application user documentation.

May participate on internal and external committees providing input and receiving feedback on issues that may impact GW staff, faculty and student users.

Enhances professional knowledge and skills by attending training sessions, workshops/seminars and reviewing published literature.

Performs other work-related duties as requested.
