Columbia University Investment Management Company, LLC, ("IMC") is one of the leading endowment management organizations in the world. It offers an extraordinary investment management career opportunity to a particularly qualified candidate. The IMC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia University charged with managing Columbia's endowment for the current and future support of operations and with preserving the purchasing power of the endowment over the long-term after inflation. Most, but not all, funds are managed externally in a diversified strategy that uses active and passive management techniques across a range of asset classes and geographies. This is approximately a 24 month role with an anticipated end date of July 2015. The IMC seeks professionals who can contribute materially to the management of the portfolio in an environment that employs a collaborative generalist approach in which team members are exposed to and expected to add value to as much of the portfolio as possible. Independent thinking and open dialogue are actively encouraged, with team members contributing to the skills, thinking, qualitative and quantitative analysis of the portfolio, including equities, real estate, energy, other real assets, private equity or a variety of public market strategies. The IMC environment is one in which staff members are expected to develop professionally, work collaboratively across asset classes, and assume greater responsibilities according to ability and progress. POSITION SCOPE: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, but working under the close supervision of a Director or Associate and closely with all investment team members, the Investments Analyst will assist with the management of the portfolio. Responsibilities related to the management of the portfolio include, but are not limited to: Assisting team members with high-level asset allocation and risk management. Work with colleagues in order to contribute to the overall asset allocation and risk allocation process through fluid understanding of the broader portfolio and rigorous risk allocation analysis. Assisting with analysis of particular investment strategies, sectors and geographies. Working with other colleagues to help implement investment strategies, primarily through the sourcing, evaluation of of external managers. Keeping abreast of market conditions for various strategies. Assisting senior team members to monitor managers on an on-going basis through dialogue, research, and review of investment reports; helping to develop best practices regarding the appropriate approach to monitoring managers on an individual basis and on other bases, including style, sector, correlations, etc. Working with colleagues in order to contribute to the development of a well constructed investment process for ideas with regard to the entire portfolio. Working with colleagues and in particular, with the Chief Operating Officer, to develop appropriate risk management metrics and procedures for the entire portfolio. Supporting the Operations team to ensure a robust and appropriate performance measurement, cash movement, and information receipt with regards to each manager and the private investment portfolio in total. Developing and utilizing a solid network including other investors and consultants. Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required in Finance, Economics or quantitative related field required, plus a demonstrated strong academic performance. Two - four years of of related experience is appropriate.

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences. Must be detail oriented, and have excellent spreadsheet and analytical skills. In addition, strong critical thinking skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and a desire to take on greater responsibilities and leadership are all required to be a successful member of the IMC team. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a demanding environment required. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines for short, long and ad-hoc assignments. Must have a commitment to exceptional quality, have the highest ethical standards, and have the vision to enhance and further develop IMC's portfolio.
Investing or other relevant experience in equities, specific sectors / industries / geographies, real estate, energy or other real-asset areas or private equity that will contribute to IMC's overall evaluation and pursuit of investment opportunities, strongly preferred. Fluency in Mandarin a plus.
