A newly formed real estate private equity firm seeks an analyst to bolster its human capital and develop additional capacity for its growing business. Our firm invests in debt instruments backed by commercial real estate and focuses on two primary strategies: distressed loans and commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS). The position would entail, among other things:
· Analyzing potential investment opportunities
· Developing modeling tools and applications
· Maintaining and statistically evaluating the firm’s proprietary underwriting data
· Monitoring and assessing portfolio performance
The position requires strong communication skills because the analyst will have to effectively and professionally interact both verbally and in writing with investors, investment bankers, real estate brokers, borrowers, asset sellers, etc. Candidates must also understand how to use Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, which includes the ability to write and edit VBA macros, in order to manipulate files, stratify data and model cash flow at the asset and portfolio level. The analyst must possess a knowledge of real estate valuation techniques either academically or through prior work experience.
