The Anatomy Educator will be a full-time academic position with primary responsibilities in the teaching of courses in the health professions offered by the department. Additional educational responsibilities will extend to anatomy-related material throughout the medical curriculum. Over the long term, it is expected that the Educator will assume some course leadership duties. The position requires an ability to explain basic science concepts and to relate these to clinical issues. The appointment will be made at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Depending on the experience and career goals of the successful applicant, this position may or may not be tenure-track. The Anatomy Educator will report to the Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.

Basic Function
•Strong content knowledge in microscopic anatomy
•Content knowledge in gross anatomy and/or neuroanatomy is a plus
•Strong teaching skills in small and large group instruction
•Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
•Ability to work independently AND collaboratively
•Willingness to expand anatomy-related contributions to other parts of the curriculum, such as human dissection or neuroanatomy laboratories. If necessary, training would be provided.

Essential Duties
•Develop/adapt lectures and electronic course material in microscopic anatomy
•Participate in microscopic and gross anatomy laboratory instruction
•Meet/advise students outside of class as needed
•Participate in evaluation/examination of students
•Participate in design and delivery of anatomy-related course material throughout the health professions curricula
•Work with course directors to develop and deliver appropriate content to students in the health professions
•As needed, develop leadership responsibilities in courses in the health professions
•Contribute to education-related service at NEOMED

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D., D.O. or other terminal degree in related field
Content knowledge in microscopic anatomy
Two years of teaching experience in anatomy-related content areas

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to teach gross anatomy laboratory (strongly preferred)
Ability to teach neuroanatomy laboratory
