DESCRIPTION

Christensen Farms, one of the largest family owned swine production companies in the US, is currently seeking an Animal Handling Manager. This position is directly responsible for the development and field support of company animal transfer procedures and protocols. The Animal Handling Manager will play a critical role in meeting company objectives related to animal loss during the loading/unloading processes and transport of animals. The position will cover a geography from Jackson/Fairmont, MN to Algona, IA.

DUTIES

  • Development of operating procedures and standard protocols for animal movements in conjunction with the expectations of the Production, Live Haul, and Marketing departments.
  • Development and management of training programs related to PQA, TQA, and company standard operating procedures.
  • In field diagnosis and troubleshooting that support objectives of Production and Contract Drivers.
  • Serve as a key resource to Producers, Drivers, and Production personnel for information and feedback on performance as it relates to quality animal movements.
QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires previous livestock experience, preferably in production or live haul transportation. Leadership experience is a plus. Must demonstrate a high degree of discipline, organization, and self-direction. Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a variety of personalities. An action-oriented mind-set is required to perform this position successfully. Position requires regular travel, including day trips and occasional overnight travel. * Development of operating procedures and standard protocols for animal movements in conjunction with the expectations of the Production, Live Haul, and Marketing departments.
