The Assistant Director of Residence Life is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Housing and Campus Services with the overall responsibility for the Onondaga Community College student residential program with a specific focus on community development and educational programming.

Major Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Housing and Campus Services: develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate the residential program. Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision and the evaluation of a diverse staff of professional Residence Hall Directors, student Resident Assistants.
• Directly supervise 2 full time and 2 part time professional live in Residence Hall Directors. Indirectly supervise 16 student Resident Assistants.
•Help plan and create a living and learning environment to improve the quality of life for resident students.
•Develop, plan, and coordinate service learning/volunteer opportunities for resident students in collaboration with faculty and staff.
•Continue development and implementation of theme housing.
•Work with supervisor to develop a programming budget for Residence Life and ensure that expenditures do not exceed the budget.
•Serve as a judicial hearing officer and work collaboratively with the Office of Judicial Affairs on issues of adherence to the Student Conduct and Disciplinary Process.
•Responsible for the continued development, implementation, data tracking and assessment of residential life programming.
•Represent the Office of Residence Life on various committees such as the Behavior Intervention Team, Campus Activity Board, and Campus Safety Advisory.
•In coordination with supervisor, develop and implement policies and procedures for residential students.
•Work with Campus Security and Maintenance Staff to provide a safe living environment supporting student success.
•Assist in the development and instruction of training conducted for all residence life staff prior to and during the academic year.
•Collaborate with key stakeholders for development of living learning communities.
•Enforce and support all College and departmental policies and regulations; act as a role model in professional and mature decision-making for undergraduate students.
•Work with Assistant Director of Housing Operations to coordinate New Resident Orientation and Move-In Weekend.
•Provide appropriate mediation and referral for individual students and staff when needed; utilize College and community resources in making appropriate referrals.
•Investigate and respond to concerns and complaints of students, parents and College staff members in a manner that provides accurate information and fosters good public relations.
•Review and update all administrative paperwork annually.
•Serve in an on-call off campus duty rotation.
•Perform other duties and special assignments as requested
Minimum Qualifications
We are currently seeking candidates with a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration or related degree. Candidate must have appropriate combination of practical experience with a minimum of three to four years of professional (full-time, post-graduate) experience in residence life and previous experience with student conduct. Candidates must possess the ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner and communicate clearly and effectively to a diverse student, parent and staff population. Candidates should also have the ability to function independently and as part of a team, strong administrative skills and computer experience, including Microsoft Office and other college/housing software. Must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment and develop effective relationships within the college community as well as key stakeholders external to the campus. The Assistant Director of Residence Life must be willing to take initiative on new projects and embrace change.
