The incumbent must be able to demonstrate a work history of dependability along with strong interpersonal, organizational and clinical skills/or and decision making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. This position requires a balance in ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively within a team. The job incumbent must be able to demonstrate dependability and reliability in this role.

The job incumbent must be able to operate computer hardware and software at a level needed to effectively perform job functions. This includes the ability to enter data and retrieve data and to prepare simple reports.

The Apartment Manager in Lieu of Rent must have a general understanding of cultural differences and have a strong appreciation of and respect for other cultures and diversity. The incumbent must demonstrate culturally competent practices and an understanding of the impact cultural influences have on behavioral health services. The Apartment Manager in Lieu of Rent must be able to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings and with diverse communities.

Property Management experience and landlord tenant law knowledge preferred.

Work Schedule and Job Description:
The Apartment Manager will work 12 hours a week (10 office hours and 3 hours with flexible times) and live on site in a 515 sq. ft. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. The Apartment Manager will assist in the management of a 16 unit apartment community in SW Portland called Vermont Springs Apartments. The buildings are operated as independent housing with persons having mental illness. Rent for apartment will be in lieu of pay. (Occupant pays utilities, except for water and sewer).

The duties include collecting and depositing rent checks, submitting copies of checks to the Accounting Department by deadlines, cleaning the building weekly (includes sweeping, mopping, and dusting), delivering notices or letters, and offering some support for annual re-certifications for our Compliance Department. This position is responsible for attending monthly community meetings to go over general updates and any tenant concerns.
