A Software Development Manager of Digital Solutions Platform (DSP) will be responsible for building and leading one or more agile software development teams focused on building scenario-based applications for verification. The team will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential functions:
Ability to define and build real life applications using DSP platform.
Participate in small to mid-sized development teams involved in full-lifecycle development efforts which are based in J2EE, Linux/Unix, and Oracle DB technologies.
Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and user experience engineers.
Work with product owners across the energy businesses to understand market needs & vision; quickly translate that vision into demonstrable software.
Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes.
Work directly with customers to understand business and technical needs.
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse.
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities.
Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.
Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products.
Keep project data relating to tracking and financials current.
Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities.
Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team.
Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.
Bachelor’s degree Computer Science OR “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
A minimum of 9 years of experience in Application Development.
A minimum of 5 building applications using Java technology.
A minimum of 5 years UI application experience.
A minimum of 4 years leading a team of engineers
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in the East Bay Area in Northern California.
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
Must be willing to travel.
Must be 18 years or older.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Master’s degree in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) highly preferred.
Effective team building and problem solving abilities.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including executive level presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
Experience in working in Agile environment
Strong understanding of OOA/OOP, web-based technology
Exposure to OSGi
Expertise working with client side Web Services, XML, DOM, JSON
Experience with one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: JSPs, Server side Java, Eclipse, Spring MVC, Databases development lifecycle methodology.
