Under direct supervision, assists in bit proposal development, bit application recommendations and post-well evaluation of bit performance. Provides technical and operational assistance to both external customers and internal customers in a professional manner. Performs assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles, basic bit technology and basic drilling processes. Participates in developmental programs to accelerate learning. Learns bit design theory and how to use company technical application software tools such as SPARTA and the bit database. Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, or similar discipline and 2 years of industry experience, which includes drill bit experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This is an entry-level position for a graduate with two years relevant industry experience or non-degreed individuals with at least 4 years of relevant industry experience with at least 2 years bit industry experience. The Application Evaluation (AE) certification process leads to the minimum technical knowledge requirement for employees involved within Drill Bit Services (DBS) operations.
