This position announcement is for an Application Specialist located in New Century, Kansas reporting to the Manager of Multiple Foods Applications.
We are looking for an Application Specialist with a minimum of 10 years in Food Enzyme Research and Development experience to support our Food Enzyme business. Work experience with an international food manufacturer and/or multiple ingredient food ingredient company is preferred.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with skills and knowledge in food enzyme applications who would like to work with our enzyme team to bridge the gaps between basic enzyme research and food applications to provide superior and sustainable solutions for the food industry. This position will cover a wide range of applications: culinary, meat, dairy, beverages, pet food and other foods.
The scope for this position is wider than enzyme applications with internal products and processes since strong cooperation with many internal and external partners will be necessary for the development and optimization of robust enzyme solutions with focus on serving customer's needs. You will work independently in cross functional project groups, cooperate closely with food technologists and contribute actively with innovative ideas in collaboration with our basic enzyme research group.
The incumbent will collaborate with other members of Innovation, both within the NAFTA region and globally. Your role will include planning, managing and prioritizing food enzyme projects. Other initiatives include:
Development of new products that address market needs
Development of application literature such as Technical Memorandums, Technical Notes, Technical Papers, invention disclosures, and patents
Keep up-to-date on trends, new technical developments and competitor's activities by monitoring applications for processing systems and ingredients
You are a college graduate with a degree focus in Food Science or related field, preferable with a minimum M.S. degree and experience typically gained through ten years in the food industry. Processing or plant experience is preferred. The ability to work independently while participating in a team environment is an integral part of this position.
This position will operate in an office/laboratory environment and may require outside travel up to 20 - 30% of the time.
