Purpose of the job- To manage the know-how in a specific application field and to act as the technical expert in thisspecific application field towards internal (Sales / Business) and/or external world- To develop (new) applications, both for existing and new products, as defined by business (line)management. Maintain knowledge of the application assigned to- Work closely with the Technician/Chemist for industrial trials and in the subsequentinterpretation of results in order to achieve the best knowledge base for our product lines.- Provide appropriate technical training to Technicians, sales team, distributors and end-users- Develop applications to demonstrate product (existing or new) functionality/ benefits tocustomers- Test the functionality of new products and compare functionality with competitors’ products(internal and external)- Determine product reference (-window) for existing production and new product development- Supports the Management of Change (MOC) procedures and where applicable: is the owner ofthe product formulas, maintains recipe data base and corresponding documentation in PI- Develop and maintain application know-how with internal and external experts- Contribute to identify market needs and technological trends and Initiate and evaluate ideasfor new products- Determine positioning of new products and develop the technical value proposition- Understand DSM and competitor product portfolio and positioning of different products inrelation to each other to support the sales process- Proactively share on a regular basis updated information with marketing and sales managersacross the PMC- Support marketing to determine and substantiate the value of DSM products (CIU analysis,analysis of switching costs etc.)- Prepares the technical content of documents and presentation given at meetings and seminarsabout defined products and/or applications- Implement and manage a cost effective and efficient organization, working processes andsystems, in order to enable optimal performance- Implement HR structures and systems, in line with DSM and BG/BU guidelines and systems, inorder to guarantee a workforce that meets current and future requirements in terms of qualityand quantity, and manage and coach a team of Lab Technicians
PhD Chemistry or Coatings ScienceMSc Chemistry or related field + 2-3 years relevant experienceBSc Chemistry or related field + 3-5 years understanding of industry requirements
