We are looking for a software engineer to work on the application layer of Medium who has a passion for making things people love .
As an Applications Engineer, you will be working between the infrastructure layer and the frontend layer , drawing on your experience working on other application frameworks to write performant, reusable, and well-documented code. Your responsibilities will be dynamic; you could be working on an entirely different part of the site from one sprint to the next.
You might call yourself a backend engineer or a full-stack developer, but you are excited about learning new things and writing code that turns feature ideas into reality. You are comfortable working and communicating with others on cross-functional teams, and you embrace uncertainty and novelty as opportunities to learn and grow.
We use daily standups (with remote engineers attending via robot ) and Trello to manage and communicate our work. Currently, we are using a 3-week sprint model to organize our time (with 1 week in between to plan and regroup). We balance shipping frequently (with 4 deploys a week) with maintaining a high level of quality in our product.
As engineers, we get a big say in… well, everything. We share and celebrate our successes and value teamwork, learning, and cooperation. Our meetings are open, inclusive, and attendance is optional. We regularly work with designers, and feel comfortable talking about user flows that don’t feel right, or brainstorming about feature ideas.
We have big ideas about where Medium is going, and we see it as more than just a platform for writing.
Come join us.
This position is located at our head office in San Francisco, California (but we're happy to consider people from all over).|
