The Commercial Appraisal Review Department in the Seattle Corporate Office has a current opening for an Appraisal Review Manager.
This position is responsible for: 1) managing the appraisal process for all commercial real estate valuation products used by the Company to support lending and investment activities, 2) supervising the residential appraisal process by working closely with the Residential Appraisal Manager and by direct involvement, 3) maintaining an appraisal policy and written commercial appraisal procedures for the Company, and 4) strategic planning for the department to include managing and motivating staff.Washington Federal is proud of the high value that we all place on simply being nice when serving our co-workers and Washington Federal clients.
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
Manage effective and efficient commercial appraisal ordering and review functions that will ensure the generation of quality market value appraisals.
Maintain an appraisal policy for the Company and procedures for the commercial appraisal process that support the loan origination and investment strategies and activities of the Company.
Ensure appraisal compliance regarding completeness and consistency with the appraisal standards.
Work with fee appraisers in the bidding and ordering of appraisal reports.
Produce an acceptable volume of commercial appraisal reviews.
Follow up with appraisers and other appropriate parties when material errors, omissions, or other appraisal weaknesses and deficiencies are observed to ensure satisfactory resolution.
When necessary or appropriate, perform or obtain Evaluations in Lieu of Appraisal for commercial properties.
Maintain open communication with the lending departments and be supportive of their business strategies and client service needs.
Contribute to the department strategic planning process.
Perform supervisory duties for all Commercial Appraisal Review staff (e.g., hiring, training, staff development, performance management).
Advise the Chief Credit Officer of major problems encountered in a timely manner.
Be responsive to the needs of the entire department.
Coach and communicate with staff about expected service standards for the Company and the department.
Full-time schedule; 40 hours per workweek.
Position requires a minimum of five years of commercial appraisal experience, including a minimum of two years of experience in the company’s primary market areas; must possess technical knowledge and education sufficient to be able to review both income property and residential subdivision appraisals. Selected candidate should have previous managing experience, be willing and capable of advocating the Company’s principles, and demonstrate the ability to supervise and motivate staff. The incumbent should also demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, exhibit a high level of personal integrity and judgment/maturity, handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism, show a high degree of initiative and dependability, and work independently with little supervision. Must also demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, be accurate and timely, and be able to work with others cooperatively and as part of a team. Proficiency of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word products is required; MS-Access database application is desirable but not required. A valid driver’s license and auto insurance is necessary as this position may require occasional travel and overnight trips.
