Apprentice
Gasman responsible for locating gas facilities, DOT requirements, operation and
maintenance of the gas system, meter reading, installation of gas services and
mains utilizing all tapping and other equipment, gas leak investigations and
responding to after hour calls.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·
All

Ensure
all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and

Perform
the duties of meter reading

·
Operate
locating equipment and locating gas and facilities

·
Perform
Emergency Response functions such as investigation and repair of gas leaks and
abnormal operating conditions

·
Construct
commercial and residential meter fits.

·
Complete
DOT requirements including cathodics, leak surveys, and valves operations and
maintenance, regulator maintenance and factored meters

·
Operate
equipment including backhoe, trencher, tapping equipment, service plows and any
other equipment need to complete a project

·
Respond
to after hour calls (standby and overtime on scheduled basis as well as
unscheduled call back overtime)

·
Complete
paperwork associated with work (leaks, material, work authorizations, etc.)

·
Aid
in completion of service orders as needed

·
Travel
and temporary assignments to any location for the duration of projects

·
Other
duties as assigned

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

·
Must
be able to demonstrate a good safety record

·
Must possess strong interpersonal
communication skills

·
Must be able to walk in excess of 10
miles per day

·
Must have knowledge of natural gas
system under normal operations

·
Must be able to understand emergency
plans and operate the system in abnormal conditions

·
Must be able and willing to share
system knowledge with other employees

·
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent
from two year college or technical school, or six months to one year related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience preferred
