DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·

· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
· Work Assignments (including, but not limited to): o
Install and connect services and transformers, including overhead and underground o
Climb poles, hot stick up to and including 35kV, and perform hot line work and gloving up to and including 15kV o
Install, maintain, and remove distribution facilities, overhead and underground o
Perform emergency response functions, such as investigation and repair of power outages and abnormal operating conditions o
Perform duties requiring electric construction and maintenance skills as assigned o
Operate locating equipment and locate electric facilities o
Read up to 115kV subs and prepare reports, inspect and report targets on all subs, re-set alarms, sync lines, etc. o
PCB tests & clean up as needed o
Check customer voltage/sets, monitor and read recording volt meters when necessary o
Repair and install street light and reddy guard lighting o
Locate and repair underground cable faults o
Electric system switching and fusing o
Line clearance from primary and secondary voltage lines o
Required availability for after hour call-outs weekdays, weekends and holidays o
Read meters as necessary o
Completion of service orders as needed o
Complete paperwork associated with work (material, work authorizations, outage reports, SAP orders, etc) o
Travel and temporary assignments to any location for the duration of projects o
Plan, forecast and organize work o
Participate in public relations, economic development opportunities and actively participate in the community o
Other duties as assigned o
Majority of shift is worked outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Completion of post-secondary lineman training program including four years on the job training as a lineman
· Good verbal communication/interpersonal skills
· Computer proficiency preferred
· Working knowledge of NWE electric distribution system and company property, lines, safety practices and procedures
· Thorough knowledge of electrical standards for construction of electrical system, methods and materials
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
· Must possess a valid South Dakota Commercial Driver’s License, at least Class A, with air brake endorsement
· Must be able to operate equipment associated with installation and maintenance of overhead and underground facilities
· Ability to complete necessary paperwork for this position, as needed
