The Substation Electrician is responsible for
installing, retiring, servicing, and maintaining substation equipment in the
assigned territory

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·
All
NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety

Ensure
all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and

Responsible
for the safe daily operation, maintenance, and construction of electric
distribution and transmission substation facilities

·
Install,
retire, service, and maintain substation equipment

·
Repair
and service, wire and test, and install and remove large electrical equipment

·
Respond
to after hour situations involving distribution, transmission and substation
problems

·
Responsible
for oil handling, testing, and record keeping (PCB and non-PCB)

·
Responsible
for work in the service territory in South Dakota but may be sent to other
locations within NorthWestern Energy’s service territory

·
Required
to respond to call-outs after hours within a reasonable amount of time

·
Required
to adhere to NESC, MSHA, OSHA, and NorthWestern Energy safety rules

·
Able
to lift 10-35 pounds frequently, occasionally lift 50 to 100 pounds

·
Able
to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions with exposure to electrical
hazards

·
Able
to travel approximately 40% of the time

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

·
Must
be able to demonstrate a good safety record

·
Must
possess strong interpersonal communication skills

·
Verifiable
Substation construction, maintenance, and operation experience or education required

·
Must
be a licensed electrician or substation technician with substation equipment construction
and O&M experience

·
Must
have a history of, or background in, installing, retiring, servicing, and
maintaining substation equipment

·
Must
have a proven history of, or commitment to, call out availability

·
Must
be able to read maps, prints, specs, and blueprints and know applicable codes
and standards

·
Prefer
demonstrated competence with power-operated equipment and testing and
monitoring instruments

·
Must
have a valid South Dakota CDL or be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire

SELECTION PROCESS
