Position is responsible for supervision and administration of activities for the division staff, staff training, and operational improvements of the Apprenticeship and Training Bureau. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, as this program must meet state and federal apprenticeship guidelines. Meeting with state agencies, businesses, and training institutions require a high degree of accuracy in the negotiation of the apprenticeship and training program. Position will assist the Director in establishing long and short term goals and objectives. Position has the responsibility of supervising staff to ensure that all policies, procedures, and work standards are carried out. Position reviews the bureaus performance in quality and quantity of programs, controls leave, reviews status of database and computer linkages to the office and field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Candidate must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities. Operational skills are a must with computers, especially in the area of PowerPoint. Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel. Skills are needed in handling and resolving conflicts, teaching, training and motivating staff. Effective communication in oral and written form is a requirement. Marketing and promoting registered apprenticeship is a large aspect of the job and therefore requires extensive skills in marketing, formal and informal communication, public speaking, and PowerPoint presentations. Knowledge, attention to detail, and accuracy in budget and planning is needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a four-year college or university preferably, with a degree in business or public administration, adult education, or related field and four years of experience in the field of personnel, labor relations, business management with two years being directly involved with apprenticeship and training programs; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
