Position Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Architect to join the Technical Services Division (TSD) in the Utilities Department.

The TSD is a multidisciplined division comprising of design engineers in different fields. The TSD also has other personnel of different professions, such as CAD operators and draftsmen. The TSD is responsible for providing engineering evaluations, design, scope and estimates for the different Community Services (CS) Department owned facilities. The design projects may range from modifications and upgrades to new constructions. CS facilities may include office buildings, housing units, A/C plants and sewage treatment plants.

The primary role of an Architect with TSD is to review thoroughly the requests received from different proponents. You will develop conceptual designs in free hand, or in computer aided software in 2D or 3D CADD. The candidate will provide budgetary estimates based on material selection, and extent of the scope. Candidates will also be responsible to review Architectural/ Interior designs, material specifications and finishes.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 7 years of experience in an architectural office; preferably 15 years of experience overall.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Registered Architect in U.S. or U.K. and a member of AIA or RIBA. Must be well familiar with MS Office’s various applications and be able to conduct presentations of work to management.

Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide conceptual architectural designs with proposed material selection and specification. Once the concept is approved you will be required to work with other engineers, including interior designers within the division to prepare and finalize detailed design and scopes of work as well as estimates. The candidate will decide on material selections and finishes for both interior and exterior. Materials will include lighting fixtures, furniture, accessories and signage. Candidates will participate in job explanation meetings with invited construction contractors to discuss required details, and answer clarifications from contractors; and prepare technical scope and presentations to be delivered to management.
