The Area HR Consultant assists the Director of HR, HR manager and/or RDC leaders with planning and executing all HR functions. Field AHRCs help direct the work of HR Representatives (HRR) and HR Clerks. AHRC’s have the responsibility to support multiple depts/RDC operations in the True Value organization with primary responsibilities as defined in the .
Total Rewards/Benefits: Consults with managers and leaders on compensation-related policies and issues, such as pay decisions. Communicates on True Value compensation philosophy, objectives, and strategies. Links these to compensation policy, decisions, etc. Consults with managers on any compensation matters (recognition, etc.). Assists in manager’s interaction with associates about compensation. Partner with Compensation to drive comp philosophy and comp programs across the company. Also coordination with the benefits team around the communication of benefits programs
Staffing/Recruiting: Participates in activities that influence staffing. Consults with managers and facilitates internal staffing processes. Partner with Recruiting team in recruiting initiatives. Responsible for AAP analysis and communications
Learning and Development: Consults with managers to align performance, competencies, and development programs with the businesses. Consults with managers to promote linkage of all development tools/training. Works closely with the True Value University in ensuring mandatory firm-wide training initiatives are met. Works closely with managers to track training costs. Facilitates training courses. Consult with RHQ training to ensure that learning programs are consistently delivered across the company
Associate Relations/Engagement: Communicates True Value policy on a variety of associate matters. Scopes and manages interventions and engagement initiatives. Helps managers address performance issues effectively. Coaches managers in necessary skills and develops improvement plans. Assists with conflict resolution. Reviews survey feedback, engagement patterns and trends; makes recommendations accordingly. Partner with Legal to ensure continuity and compliance in solutions and actions. Responsible for quarterly onboarding orientation sessions for new associates and 60 day feedback sessions. Also manages the company wide service award and retirement program and budget
Business Partner: Works with leaders to develop and implement any significant True Value goals, policies or initiatives. May participate in RHQ/RDC dept. leadership meetings and headquarters’ HR leadership team meetings
Operations: Links other locations, departments, and cross functional teams company-wide to get and share perspectives, help, resources, ideas, etc. Maintains and contributes to development of HR infrastructure (tools, HRIS, recruiting, pay, etc.)
Liaison with Specialist Interest areas such as Safety, Transportation, external organizations (EWN), etc. to ensure communications, requirements, and training are met
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
3 to 5 Years Experience
Makes policy decisions using generally accepted guidelines
Coaches others to improve their analytical skills and judgment; exhibits decisiveness and good judgment, even under ambiguous circumstances
Is required to understand how improving personal efficiency while maintaining quality, impacts the cost effectiveness of team. Also recognizes the impact of scope changes and escalates to the appropriate next level of management
Possess proficient understanding of widely used PC applications
