Area Procurement Manager
The Area Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the Southern Region Procurement staff and the implementation of procurement policies and strategies, for acquiring goods and services, leveraging local, regional, and national opportunities.
Focus will be on negotiation of special projects and Master Agreements with terms and conditions to be used by multiple generation sites. The role conducts strategic sourcing initiatives and special projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Supply Chain Management.
Responsible for managing a procurement staff of three individuals.
Responsible for implementing procurement strategy and policies.
Responsible for forecasting procurement needs.
Responsible for creating and implementing KPI’s.
Responsible for monitoring macro trends in supplier and contract base and implement plans to react.
Responsible for building and developing relationships with key suppliers and customers.
Prepare, approve and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions.
Track and report Purchasing activity and measurements.
Discuss defective or unacceptable new goods or services with users, vendors and others to determine cause of problem and take corrective and preventative action.
Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
Assist department in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products.
Responsible for planning, developing and buying services, materials, parts, supplies and equipment in a timely and cost effective way; while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
Acts as a team member with all employees of GDF SUEZ Energy North America.
Complies with all GDF SUEZ Energy North America policies and procedures.
Carries out other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree - MBA preferable.
10+ Years corporate procurement/purchasing experience.
Strong oral & written communication skills at all levels of the organization; Spanish is a plus.
Must have a proven record of managing a fast-paced MRO procurement organization in a heavy industrial environment.
Superior analytical, research and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Self motivated, self directed, capable of working independently with ability to make decisions.
Creative problem solving skills takes initiative and possesses eagerness to learn.
Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, powerpoint, and database applications.
Essential Skills/Physical Abilities
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, can handle multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment to meet firm deadlines.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally via airplane.
Could involve some lifting up to 20 lbs.
Travel factor of around 40-50%
