You must have had four years full-time experience (either manual or on an automated system) in graphic art/design, commercial art, or illustration.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates proficient in visual design, publication layout, digital illustration in the following venues of communication projects are preferred: branding, print, display, web and signage. In addition, candidates with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, which includes In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat; Power Point, html and Final Cut Pro 6.6’ are preferred.
College study leading to an Associate, Bachelor or Master Degrees in commercial art, communications, advertising, graphic design, or illustration can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.
Under the general art direction of the Artist Designer 4 the incumbent will, plan and execute new or existing design work, which includes but is not limited to digital design, including print, web, display, signage and specialty applications used in the interpretation and presentation of information relating to programs of the New York State Department of Labor. The incumbent’s duties will also include selection of and communication with, outside production venders as needed. A solid understanding of production processes for each area of communication is required.
