Job Title: Asphalt Distributor Operator

Summary: Safely and efficiently operate distributor and heavy equipment of various sizes used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Keep a log of material applied and area covered with dates.
Keep track of material on hand in storage tank and notify supervisor notified before additional product is required to maintain adequate supply of material.
Filling asphalt and burner fuel tanks.
Spraying joints and other surfaces.
Cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks, and from spray bars.
Set up and maintenance of erosion control.
Loading and unloading of materials.
General clean up around job site.
Operating rollers, trucks, power broom, tamps, and skid steer loaders, and any other equipment employee is able to operate.
Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
Possess a solid understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
May perform other related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, adding or removing screed extensions.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
No Computer skills needed.
Certificates and Licenses:
Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and clean driving history.
