Job Title: Asphalt Laborer

Summary: An asphalt laborer is usually engaged in the practical aspects in the construction industry as opposed to working in finance or design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Extensive travel required
Shovel and rake asphalt
Loads and unloads construction equipment
Puts up and takes down the scaffoldings
Clears working areas
Mixes construction material to the right consistency
Works closely with the skilled workers
Engages in all forms of hard labor that is necessary for the completion of the construction project
Uses, cleans and maintains the different tools used on the construction site
Carefully handles hoists, cranes and other equipment used to handle the construction materials
Handles repetitive manual tasks

One to three months related experience and/or training.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
