Job Location Chesapeake, VA
DRS C3 & Aviation Company in Chesapeake, VA, is currently seeking an Assembler to support the assembly of electronic equipment including circuit card assemblies, modules, rack assemblies, cables, and wire harnesses. Rework/repair circuit card assemblies including component removal/replacement board repair, PTH repair, land and conductor repair. This is a temporary position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assembling and wiring sub assemblies, major assemblies, and cabinet units
- Soldering skills in accordance with military specification, J-STD-001, & IPC-A-610
- Cable and harness building skills in accordance with military specifications and IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Follows detailed assembly instructions and processes
- Reads wiring diagrams, schematics and other production related documentation
- Ability to crimp, solder and strip wires, connectors, and cable assemblies
- Capable of using various assembly and wiring tools including hand, power and pneumatic types.
- Familiar with the use of common assembly/inspection tools.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years experience.
- Excellent soldering ability (surface mount and through-hole). Knowledge and understanding of military specifications, J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610 preferred.
- Excellent rework/repair abilities. Knowledge of IPC-A-7711/7721 preferred.
- Cable and wire harness assembly experience in accordance with military specifications and IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Ability to read/interpret drawings, wire lists, schematic diagrams, work instructions, etc.
- Capable of masking cca’s and applying conformal coating.
- Six months to one year related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
