About BRC
For the past 40 years, BRC is where people change their lives. We are one of New York City's largest and most comprehensive social services agencies. We house over 1,500 people daily, and serve nearly 9,000 individuals annually. We help the neediest of New Yorkers overcome the challenges in their life - addiction, physical and mental illness, histories of unemployment, incarceration and homelessness - and empower those we serve to reclaim their dignity, self-confidence and independence. BRC is where people come to change their lives, and our programs and staff enable that change to happen. Our guiding philosophy is to offer a hand-up, not a hand-out; helping people to help themselves and thereby helping them achieve lasting solutions.

We operate 27 programs throughout New York City, including outreach programs, residential and outpatient treatment programs for mental illness and substance abuse, and permanent and transitional housing. BRC employs nearly 600 full-time and part-time employees.
